Biography:

Yoga has been my lifelong passion. My first introduction to the practice was during my freshman year of college in 1988 and I began my formal teaching career 10 years later. My practice has seen me through my own major illnesses of hepatitis A, cancer and Lyme disease, injuries and surgeries, as well as through the profound physical and emotional changes of pregnancy and motherhood.

In 1999 I completed a year long teacher training with Jivamukti Yoga in New York City, which led me to study with the legendary Eddie Stern. I spent 13 years having a daily practice with him and I was honored to teach alongside him for many years at his NYC studio, Ashtanga Yoga New York.

From there, I spent a decade going back and forth to India to practice with Sri k. Pattabhi Jois and Paramguru R. Sharath Jois. I was granted teaching authorizations for both primary and second series in Ashtanga. Although I eventually completed the challenging 3rd series, the birth of my child forever changed the course of my life and I chose to not return to India for the final certification.

After moving to Colorado in 2012, I met my current teacher, Yogarupa Rod Stryker. Through his guidance I have adapted my practice and teaching to be in deeper energetic harmony and potency.

Beyond the mat, I have infinite reverence for my beloved meditation teacher, Swami Hariharananda Giri. I took my first initiation directly from him in 1998 and was taught the true meaning of inner light and sound.  I feel incredibly fortunate to have had the guidance of a fully realized master.

Over the last 3 decades, I have studied with masters of Qigong, Ayurveda, Sanskrit, Spiritual Nutrition and Energy work.

My life and work has been about synthesizing all this information from related areas of study in order to inform my own journey of personal discovery, growth and healing. I consider myself to be a lifelong student and I have a vast array of tools to adapt the practices of yoga to suit any needs.
